June is EIRA: Innovation Month

 

EIRA are hosting a month-long programme of virtual events and activities for ‘Innovation Month’ this June 2021. Spread across our three core themes, we’ll be hosting Digital Creative Week from the 7th – 11th June, Biotechnology Week from 14th – 18th June and a joint AI and student-focused week from 21st – 25th June.

Innovation Month will culminate in our final EIRA Showcase on Thursday 24th June. This event will be an opportunity for businesses, academics, student / graduate interns, knowledge exchange professionals and senior management to come together and find out more about the rich and diverse projects supported by EIRA, and what other support is available for business.

Digital Creative Week: Mon 7th – Fri 11th June 2021

 

 

Beyond Reality: Testing New Dimensions

Tuesday 8th June, 10:00 – 11:15am

The first event in Digital Creative Week will be the Beyond Reality: Testing New Dimensions conference. This will feature a range of business and academic speakers from the following projects:

  • AReye – Jordi Asher (Essex)
  • Metal – Joanna Sperryn-Jones (NUA graduate) and Jim Ang (Kent)
  • Orbital Media – Dr Saber Sami (UEA)
  • Raddlesham Mumps – Matthew Linley (Essex)

The audience will discover the multiple business applications that virtual and augmented realities can offer and learn about the DC projects funded through the EIRA programme. The event will end with a Q&A panel discussion with experts from the projects. Find out more and book your place here.

Improving mental health and wellbeing through Digital Creative innovations

Thursday 10th June – all day

The final activity in EIRA’s Innovation Month: Digital Creative Week, will focus on sharing the case studies, research and projects that EIRA have supported to help improve people’s access to quality mental health services. ‘Doing more with less’

Tuesday 15th June, 10 – 11am

EIRA’s small Innovation Voucher grants were used to great effect by businesses to better position themselves for further funding. In this webinar, find out how they were utilised by businesses from the across the Biotechnology sector as seed funding to generate follow-on funding for their research. ‘The role of the Knowledge Exchange Manager in successful Biotech collaborations’ with Praxis Auril

Wednesday 16th June, 10 – 11:15am

There is a growing need for cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional activities in biotech innovation. With insights from Tamsin Mann, Director of Policy at Praxis Auril, this webinar, we’ll focus on:

  • The multi-disciplinary nature of biotech and its dependance on access to a range of expertise for future R&D success.
  • How KE professionals are a key part of the process in identifying and bringing together necessary expertise to accelerate innovation.
  • Exploring the challenges of multi-disciplinary collaboration and how lessons learned can be used in the future eg in consortia building for larger funding applications.

AI & Student Week: Mon 21st – Fri 25th June 2021

 

Student Knowledge Exchange and Innovation

Tuesday 22nd June, 10 – 12noon

The first event in the AI & Student week will be a student-focused event held on virtual platform Hopin.

This will be a chance for all the student initiatives to be celebrated, including the Innovation Weekender, an introduction to i-Teams, an introduction to microfinance, overview of internships and signposting to employability / enterprise services at each institution.

Artificial Intelligence: First steps to productivity

Wednesday 23rd June, 10:00 – 12noon

The AI event will be a webinar that focuses on a range of case studies across some broad topics: AI – Health & Education, AI – Environmental Projects and Research & Innovation.

Come and join businesses, academics and knowledge exchange professionals as they assemble for a morning of discussions, presentations and case studies on recent Artificial Intelligence projects completed as part of the Enabling Innovation: Research to Application (EIRA) project.

There will be opportunity to find out more about how Universities, with their pool of knowledge and experience can help stimulate innovation, and hear from knowledge exchange professionals on routes to funding to help kick start your ideas and help reach your full potential.

EIRA Showcase

Thursday 24th June, 9 – 5pm

The EIRA Showcase is the final celebration event for Innovation Month. The event will be an opportunity for businesses, academics, student / graduate interns, knowledge exchange professionals and senior management to come together and find out more about the rich and diverse projects supported by EIRA, as well as the support on offer for businesses at EIRA partner institutions. Hear from business and academic speakers who will be showcasing their new products, services and research developed with EIRA support. The EIRA Showcase will feature a mix of keynote presentations, breakout sessions, networking and exhibition space for a full day of knowledge exchange discovery.
